Weather has been good but windy no doubt! It seems as if we all have been creeping through the Spring a yard at a time. I enjoy the finished project coming out of the boat yard but it is not to say it is not challenging in its own way to get things done. Small rocks to lay on…not a favorite lol. Prep and refinish. It is a wave. Getting ready you are in the trough. Once you leave the dock you are back up on the wave. It is a pretty sight!
We are seeing some life out of the surf as drum have been down on the point, trout on the backside, occasional mullet here and there; early signs of life that are going to keep on moving regardless of where we are. Our shiny new docks and pilings went in late last year and with caps on the tops, we are set for the next season. We can remember when the season was basically three months! I clocked alot more fishing time for the market. How things have progressed! We have been here for decades and our customers have seen every upgrade, every bubble, every which way the wind blows.
So what view? Well….May is coming….we are looking for a few things once we are back on the water!
Taylor blues, some Spanish once the waters warm; that is what lets us know things are trying to move up and move out! Fish feed in a chain and you want the bait to set up, the temps to climb, and the symphony to begin.
We cannot always pick and choose but when we can look and find the fish cooperating it is golden. It is a nature driven activity in the outdoors, open air, salty breeze and summer sunshine. Cloudy? Great! Helps your sunblock!
Some are released for tomorrow and some go in the box! Regardless it can be a Forrest Gump day and that is probably what keeps every fisherman going. The fact you just don’t have two days in a row the same.
We are back in the water in the next hour and the next job will begin. As soon as we head back you can see it here. With good weather should not be too many days!
