It’s Summer…right?

Last week put us in sweatshirts and made us want a coffee pot aboard the boat! You got a day of 85F then back to North winds that put us in jeans! We have drifted, jigged, trolled, baited, and then some. I had the best people no matter how hard that run was. My New Yorkers showed me again how to have fun, laugh about it, and come up with categories for bragging rights!

You have to bring the right people! You want some laughs, a bit of friendly competition, and a chance to unwind from the norm. I think they have caught on to the fact that the mission should be to enjoy. We already worry about what may come into the box. Believe me; all the boats out there have had some days where no matter what we did, we got our feelings hurt! Fish can be a boss and experience won’t make them bite. lol

Hey, with the way our fish are moving, we were glad to be in shorts and breaking out some normal tackle! We look every day that is feasible for all the elements that normally signal summer. Drum have been scarce and cobia a pop up so far. There are some schools that have already migrated in our opinion and that includes Spanish. They continue to move through temperate waters in migration.

We are seeing some warm ups that have yielded fish in various numbers ( some days slow, some days better) and stretching the running range has seen just a the first glimpse of ribbonfish as well. Shockingly early. REEEEALLLY hoping to see that not organize TOO soon as we are still lining up the rest of the migration! This summer has already put us to seven days a week very early. I have been a slacker (since we are working) on the time on social media. SO now we are catching up a bit. I have been able to have some first class help in the pit when I am out (pretty much has fished it all commercial to charter) and it has made it all easier! To all who are scheduled; welcome back to the beach!
