We all know that Spring is about water temps and the beginnings of migration. No different in the early May weeks as fish begin to make their way to our section of the NC coast. We had been along the beaches for the first of the blues and Spanish. We also were on the wrecks when the weather allowed to see what was showing up.
Nearshore wrecks are limited so understand that with traffic that is a shortened venue. I had great groups who could pick up a light rod and make short work of the bite! It was great to see Aunts and Nieces side by side. lol and suuuure there was some joking!
Auntie was wracking it up and we were keeping up! BTW they were beyond gracious as we had to look a long time to get a bite. Understand that sometimes it is alot of patience!
It is always fish on our mind but you should be recalibrating after the last few years. Take 5. Have the conversations you were waiting for. No cubicles, no walls, and a bit of sunshine! We made our way along throughout the next week or so to see a whopper of a blow. Might as well have been a mini hurricane. It dumped water temps, dirtied it up, and shoved all our bites. The dust settled, my “lifers” came aboard (this is year 21 for them) and they help me do my best. They give me the room to think it out and find what is what.
lol they already chose their crew for next year and our trip will be a few hours longer . I am going on a misson…They ate the dinner we caught in one go! Blues and a few Spanish in the mix. They are hilarious and the home they rent always has about 30 plus folks. Everyone is friend and family. It is the whole reason I razz them. Pretty much the brothers from another mother I never had lol.
I really enjoy the fact we all do different things. I thank my folks for letting us get to know them. This man right here can tell you about Churchill downs and a skosh about the winner! What an insight! We limited that trip and sent a few back. As we wound up prior to the weather switch, we had another species or two added arriving both early and on time. More on that shortly.
UPDATE MAY 24TH: yesterday’s pretty window is out. We are on new weather(NE front) and all goes back to the beginning. Territory has changed and it is a shake. We are out fishing this week after coming off of 9 day run. As soon as we see what is what, we will place it here! Thank you for those on the books. June is already busy. If you know when you are arriving, best to place your booking in.
