Well….guess Knot

Yeah…so as for summer. Listen, I would love to tell you I had a chance to paint the cockpit, fishbox and a few other things. It did not happen. I would rather be fishing and since the weather is sunny, breezy, then raining, off we went!

We spent much of May on the backside due to winds and emerged in the ocean searching a twenty square mile area. Blues and Mack were fed from what came from the sound. Oceanside, we just now are seeing conditions we should have had by June 1st! I have had some of the funniest people this year and their attitude shows.

There is a lot to be said by fishing the backside! The summer days we have had here and there are trying to settle in. We have flexed beyond and back this year as I keep thinking 80F and calm days are just around the corner. They are. It is just you have to bend when you need to .

It isn’t always about how many but perhaps about what you are doing to move right along! Just being there is great! You cannot get this in virtual reality (maybe you can but not until they have salt smell -o- vision). Even on the salty days my crews have been ” hey, we are not stuck in the cottage or just watching t.v. we are out here!” I agree.

My thanks above to Kurt (KRS Graphics- his photos) as he has spent years with us. Literally. He never fails. It is why we keep showing up. Just as soon as we mention the “R” word (retire…okay then we laugh…alot) we get the side eye! lol. Wally is the same way (more on Wally later). We get grayer and you may have to jog the memory but a face, we don’t forget that! If we do, shake your finger at us!

I am way behind on photos so let me catch you up overall! We have gone from blues, spanish, last of the cobia casts to ribbons, then blues, spanish, all seen a trigger or two but we need it to settle down! I caught a nice speckled trout last week when we were soundside and honestly, that fish was meant for a inshore boat on the flats! All that we do is Nearshore whether soundside or oceanside and we try to stay on top of the fish no matter where they push to. Anything beyond that we cannot address as that is not who we are and we have always, always fished this way in the 40yrs I have fished this boat!

We are on a SW today with more SW tomorrow. This is the nearshore report (ribbons today, we cut it short due to conditions overall). I heard SUN for the rest of the week. That is great but fish do not know it’s raining and we caught last week in the sound that way! The tuna boats did not go today as this wind does not work for them as it stood today. We don’t fish that fishery so for that all day report please refer to the fishing center. There ya go! Nearshore , that is our wind and we went! That is why we are mobile! That is the 6/27 report.

thanks folks and see you in the am!
