I would say between last year and 2024, we crouch down in our jeans, peer through the tackle, and take stock. If we learned anything the last few years, it was to welcome those who are new, attempt to share what we know, and stretch our arms out for our regulars. It probably sounds repetitive but it isn’t. We all move through various places lol.
We finished out the season right on schedule and look forward to what we are already seeing on the books for this summer. The warmth of the sun right now is a splinter of the thorny heat we see late summer but for now, it is just what we need.
We saw plenty of SW winds last summer that pushed some nice blues on the backside and some around the shallows. Spanish made an appearance just prior to ribbons moving in to many areas.
Cobias: do you know how fast those things can move? Normally a month long cast a rama made it a sprint as weather took the body of fish and scooped them along the way. Luckily our state Drum made their show and even though they seemed to be bite shy, we managed to hook it up along the way.
No matter what you chose and what the weather chose for us (remember I said that), we appreciated you all riding along day in and day out. Books are open for the summer and high traffic weeks are starting to book and get the calls. Fingers crossed we have alot of SW winds to push the warmer water up. Also know that there is a restaurant coming to Oregon Inlet via Sea Chef. I would keep account of that as I am hearing local seafood in the mix. Support your fishermen is the way to go folks. Caught and presented here on the Outer Banks means seasonal so give it a try!
We take many experience levels, you can keep what you wish or release as well. It is about being with friends and family, getting to know the area and appreciate it all for what it offers! Thank you and cheers to 2024!
