I have been so consistent on the facebook/insta front so let me say that upfront!
September still lended to some fantastic fishing but honestly, as the winds began to blow, we were shoved from the ocean to sound to hit the shoals for dinner.
There were still some drum off the piers at this time as well as just a few sound side. On the troll, we had days it was easy and days we changed gear within that four hour stretch. Who KNEW?!
Average wave height for us stayed around 3.5 to 5 feet in general. So as we exited the albies, ribbons, maybe a migrating species, off to the shallows we went! September saw some of the rainiest weather we have had.
Normally, we have one day of rain then the rest of the week can usher in sunny skies and NE breeze. I cannot tell you how many folks escaped the gray for the boat! Time well spent compared to thinking the Outer Banks cannot give you an activity! I have liked that ” can do” attitude and we are not based just sunshine as a day to day business.
Up and down the sound still saw blues as far as Manteo bay due to water temps. Know that the fish on the ‘outside’ or oceanside will continue to migrate. You might still see the last gasp of ribbons oceanside but it is high time for albies, spanish, bottomfish and the like to be moving. They don’t stop.
It is a grace really. Our hearts go out to the West of our state. The cold fronts here have pushed off weather like a hand. What I can suggest is to take a moment and look for local agencies on the ground there. Local. In the community OR your own community making their way out there. Convoys have been phenomenal. That is why there are horses, mules, and private helicopters on the ground there to some of the hardest areas. Curate, World Kitchen have been serving etc. for larger venues. We still have supplies leaving here. Food bank, private trailers etc. Check in your community.
We are on NE wind. We have another true cold front due by Thursday! This year in Autumn has been back to back versus bookend coldfronts with pretty lulls in between.
How to book: you can call directly any evening. I have placed the marina link on the main page. That helps as well for those booking online. KNOW that we love speaking with our folks in the Fall so we know when you are coming in and how many days you are here for weather purposes. For this coming week: sunny but NE for our venue.
We do not utilize a third party vendor to book us for this business. We are well established, 40years, and prefer to keep it as smooth as possible. I had someone mention they did not see us somewhere online and you will not see our boat listed as a choice via a third party booking site. Just call or see our online schedule with the marina. check the URL. It matters so you know where you are!
Thanks to all who have made it incredibly easy this Fall!
