Red, White & Blue

I have to say; July flew by with day after day of charters! We have had SW winds most of the time with one shot on a NE breeze up.

Blues and Spanish had a great run throughout the months of June into July. It was some of the most solid blues fishing we have had in a few years and as long as you flexed, that was the game plan. Great visitors for the summer have really helped make my days easier.

Always appreciate that. I have yet to have lunch with Cpt. Sarah Gardner as we swear every year we will get a weather day and do that. Like, several times throughout the summer. APPARENTLY, because my boat is enclosed I have been able to enjoy some extra time out there so we are hoping maybe this week. Hence the “white” which is part of the word : “whitecap!” Also, my bad, always on the road as well lol.

On the fishing front: the ribbons finally moved in began to push out those fish we were on earlier. Hot temps in the eighties and plenty of food fish for them kept them on a consistent run. When we could, we did begin to look around just to make sure there were not other things milling about.

Some days it worked;some not. It depended on what was moving where and could we reach it in our timeframe! I have jigged, bottom fished, trolled, casted and believe me; with 20 boats out there and only 3.5 hrs we are all putting in effort for the best results possible. Restaurant has started serving ribbonfish and their method was buttermilk then breaded and fried (my clients at the Cow & Wine were on to that a few years back as well), ceviche(one captain did that), egg roll with small shrimp, etc. Any fish is to each its own and as fish have a season, talk to us prior to booking if you are looking for something besides the traditional catch!

I have flexed just know we need a heads up prior to booking! Rolling into late July & NOW August: Red is the color of the day! I have alot of drum photos coming and not keeping breeders on this species has worked. There have been several schools in the last two weeks and when they show, it has been a derby! I will have those coming up.

THE UGLY: As of today, Saturday August 3rd we are on SW. Know we are getting ready to reach a limit on that as well as we are watching a system approach Florida. I have clients next 48 hrs and with fish that have been close, the order is to wake up and set up! After Monday; we will reassess the forecast that is current. It is rare we get shut out but it could be a possibility!

Thank you to those aboard!
