De Ernesto & Fish Wrapper

August is moving to close out as a fantastic weather and temperature month! We really have not had the Southern heat here as other parts of the country and continue to have fair breezes along the coast to keep us company.

Ernesto has given our surfers a way to go and pushed our seas up a bit for where we have been fishing. We continue to fish what arrived and became part of the season (ribbons) as well as still moving as a group to push for the next migration (see report). We love Fall! That is when fish turn around, put their noses in the air and move . It can change our venue and catches and much as any other part of the country; fish have their season which is dictated on temps and winds. Always call if you are trying to target to make sure it is here or reachable. Those fish may move and it is a big ocean!

We have had some folks who fished before and new anglers and we appreciate them all. Honestly, overall we have had a good season on weather, little rain save one week, little roll and have not had to move our boat yet for a major event. Goals people! We have bottom fished for bass and some trigger with mixed results when time allowed. It is getting used by many a boat as an option.

Recently, weeks and weather provided us with schools of drum oceanside for release. It can be shocking to warn folks that is a fish we release because it is too big!

Happy Birthday! What a gift!

I am old enough to remember chartering when we kept one a person.I am still of the opinion that we have great bodies of older , reproducing fish now because that size is let go.

One of my favorite families! six go and the rest are with a land parent! Eight and counting!

It is a citation, picture, and a wonderful sport catch! No…crying in baseball! We have also been spanish and blues fishing. The ribbons pushed hard on that front and became dominant as they normally do. I have days we see some spanish and days each of the 20 boats out there has one or two.

I encourage folks to take what they need and look around if they wish as that is fishing and nothing is guaranteed not even tuna fishing! It just should not be short attention span. Take the time to watch the dolphin show, sit back and decompress. You will be landside soon enough and that cell will still ping out there until five miles overall.

My trio Tanglers! They got him!

Some small sharks in the mix this year but not as many bite offs as last year. Last year you could get wiped a bit in a circle. Small showing of albies also but that main push will come soon enough and hopefully with our traditional fish in tow! We survived the gauntlet that is a hundred boats during

Nearshore early placed us in that beehive! lol

Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament (see instagram and that line my friends ) and now can go back to settling in! We have a coldfront due shortly which will place you in the upper 70’s (fantastic) and could change fishing yet again. We have more coming up and as usual; if there is a species you are curious about call prior to booking. It might be conditions, area, or time of year and that is the most statistically we can do to place you in the venue!

The best of co anglers!

You can reach Will at 252.423.0039 cell. It is the most efficient way. If you book online you are going through the marina and that is fine also. Might work for those in the office or on the go!
