This has been a run run summer! We had a week of impossible rain prior to this week that we could not dodge. Most of the time when they give you the summer “chance of rain” it can rain in one township and not in others. Last week was the “I am Thor Viking Hammer” type of shower. Visitors have a hard way to go and we can hear it! “Gente;” we don’t fabricate it! The flip side is people were ready to get out of the cottage, rain gear in hand and go. We actually had to say no! Not due to the rain but due to the wind that came with it. Depends.

Sunshine right now this week has settled our trips in, booked our days regardless of rain or shine, and pushed some fish up the last few days. The beach waters continue to be great. They have been very clear this summer, good temps, and plenty of swimmers. I still feel I have one or two species that are late. I am now old enough to remember (as Will and I were talking) the summers of no big drum runs. Our late friends Billy Brown and Vernon B. made their original reputations on those fish. They also mentioned the years of “none.” Cycles. It literally rearranged Vernon’s business to a new fishing model. Those are the conversations you don’t hear. It amazes me how we can be caught up in the day to day and forget the guy with the gray hair, no hair, quiet, the woman (I am inclusive) who is from here, not from here blah blah;may know something you don’t. You may want to note it! I always did!

Traffic is heavy this year oceanside and that is a side eye note. Be safe, be happy, be courteous. I have enough Walleye fishermen to have heard bumper to bumper stories and it is a fee ocean but “lets be careful” out there. Rotate through. Take your time. Don’t clean any place out. Leave it for tomorrow. You can tell what is hundreds and what is not. That is my two cents as I am in the sage part of the industry. I have release trips as well. Create that.

The videos remain on facebook and instagram and I have had some great light tackle folks, new faces, verbal anglers who really make us laugh! I want you to be that happy! Women continue to rock it here and the guys have gotten really good at photographing that moment. To everyone who brought patience and joy: thank you! We 20/20 hindsight our trips and fishing is fishing! It is massive pond and we as a fleet cover tens of miles of territory. We want to do it right! We are open tomorrow BUT we are having a hard time calling the weather. TODAY:We are open after our 3/4 today. Give Will a call as it is beautiful!
