The Reflection in the Water

The reflection in the water. On a calm day it shows every color and hue. On a breeze up day it is salt up your nose and in your hair. The variety is what keeps a crew working. You just never , ever, know! I have had some repeat offenders of late! Folks that may not get to us every year as their needs change but when they do, it is like they never left. When they get the lottery fish; even better! A sweet reward for days that were not rewarding (yes , we see those also).

Morning traffic can blow by. some of them are so fast offshore now we can see them on “banker’s hours” (that is 7am for us). What do you do when the “kids” were ten or seven and fished you and come back as blooming adults? (say that with an Aussie accent) Well, we get right back out there!

We sneak past the paddle boarders, kayak whackers and fly boys to make our way out there. Sometimes it is about just catching a few and taking a look around! Fish move! They have no stump here, no one place they sit as they are constantly in motion. Where you are today you may not be tomorrow. I have said that to alot of my anglers who fish up in the Lakes (Superior down) . There is nothing to hold them to an area and we all try to work as a team to stay on them. Hey, we only have you on the average very few hours and normally, not all day. That is a big rush to find something or hope in the last hour or two fish turn on. They can be there and NOT bite lol. That fish finder does not make them bit my friends!

I love when karma comes together. I have some crews that have seen me on and off since 1984. This is one of those crews. The reward was that one out of place fish that belonged 35 miles away. She caught it. She caught it, they got an excellent video (see my instagram) and it was mahi for dinner! Normal? No. Lucky? Horseshoe! Do not come nearshore hoping for dolphin (mahi). that is normally gulfstream so that is where you need to go for that fish!

I have alot more coming up.

Currently July 11, 2022 : NE winds have placed us on the backside today. We need the seas to calm down to get back out there oceanside. Know that all that was old is new again (that puts all boats on the hunt). As we know it we will post it.

Thank you to those aboard!
