I have no idea what happened. We came in from April with its 75F and sunny calm days and suddenly we are kids again. Remember the days of the blue rafts ?
They still make them. Sometimes they are red on one side blue on the other with a killer white rope strung around them that will rip your arm off if a wave hits you. You know the one. Well, this weather has been kind of like that! It is not really ugly. It is more like you are floating along and the first cold front goes through like a wave. Then you come back up after thinking that was it; along comes the next front and you are not getting four days of calm down time!
I am almost booked up this week as my phone rings into July right now. The thing I am hearing, even knowing we are sound side is “get me out of the cottage.” Folks, it is sunny outside and the temperatures will not make you suffer. LOL. We had some school Spanish prior to this last blow but with the wind, places us back along the shoals.
I can honestly admit the Spanish I have caught were fat and happy on that track. We had a nice start with some Spring time blues that were also seen I think at ramp 28. I have not been bottom fishing yet but may soon.
The big push this past week was of course the first shot of cobias that skirted through. Hatteras to Nags Head already. There have been some nice fish, small fish and with this wind I think they will continue to move. Alot will depend on when we can honestly get back out in that territory to see. All weather dependent.
June is looking busy. We are just starting to say “not available on that date” and placing folks in different slots. Mondays look a bit easier at present on that score. Weekends If driving in I would scope the weather to get the best.
I thank my regulars who are beyond stellar always! They have caught blues, macks, drum, cobia, yep been skunked, and their smiling faces just make me work harder. I thank you. To those coming in; game on, season is here, here we go! BTW…that which shall not be named was seen in a net….way too early…that would be a “no like” button.
